NEW APPROACHES TO INTEGRATION RESEARCH

The CALMA project is funded by the VI Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (Ref. CSO2012-38521) and led by Javier Polavieja

Its primary goal is to advance our understanding of international migrants’ integration processes in receiving societies. The project sets out to analyse and explain immigrants' incorporation by looking at its spatial, cultural, and economic dimensions, as well as by considering natives' reactions to immigration as a crucial component of the integration process. The project seeks explanations based on social mechanisms with particular attention to macro-level and meso-level influences on individual attainment processes.
